Introducing My Patreon: A New Way to Support My Hong Kong Advocacy
Dear Substackers,
I am excited to announce the launch of my Patreon page today.
As many of you are aware, beyond my work on this Substack, I have been advocating full time for human rights and justice for Hong Kong from the U.S. since Hong Kong deported me here in March 2022. My work has included testifying in Congress, conducting frequent media interviews, advocating with other U.S.-based advocates for laws and policies supporting Hongkongers, and campaigning against corporate misdeeds. I have mostly self-funded these efforts so far. However, to sustain these efforts in the long run, I am seeking public support.
My decision to launch on Patreon stems from my desire to work directly for Hongkongers and our allies, unencumbered by institutional funding constraints. This approach allows me to focus on the tasks that I believe will have the most impact on our city, holding myself accountable first and foremost to you.
As a Patreon supporter, you’ll receive regular updates on my work. Higher-tier supporters will gain access to personal insights, behind-the-scenes photos, and more. For VIP Activists, Advisors, and Partners, there will be additional opportunities for direct engagement and involvement.
My work on this Substack will continue as before, and all posts here will remain available to everyone. Subscriber posts on Patreon will focus instead on personal reflections and updates about my activism and our collective progress as a movement.
In the current environment, forging a better path for Hong Kong is a challenging task, but I truly believe we can make progress. If you believe in me as your advocate, I'd be deeply grateful if you support and share my Patreon.
